Emily in France 🇫🇷 Santé!

Cheers to being back in France!
While I loved my Japanese adventure, I'm excited to be getting back to France just in time for spring. Springtime in Paris is a strange, elusive beast: one moment, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and everyone is picnicking on the banks of the River Seine, and the next, there's a rainy deluge that doesn't let up for weeks.
Luckily, no matter which spring Paris has in store for us, wine will get us through!
This week on the blog, I'm exploring highlights from a recent trip to the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, home to some of my favorite Bordelaise wines. Of course, you don't need to travel quite so far for good wine – you can grab a glass at pretty much any Parisian café. Experts say you should never order the second-cheapest bottle, which is fine by me, because I'm usually ordering by the glass or the carafe, a half-bottle poured out into a fun little pitcher.
If you want to try some more unique natural vintages, my favorite places to sample them are Le Saint-Sébastien (currently holding strong as my favorite restaurant in Paris) and the terrace at Martin (the perfect place to enjoy the nice weather, if it's gracing Paris with its presence!) I hope you'll join me there soon!
Where I'm Eating
I got to sample some delicious food at two wonderful Bordeaux establishments – Michelin-starred Logis de la Cadène and creative, colorful l'Atelier de la Candale. Check out my reviews on the blog.
As always, you can find my ever-evolving list of my favorite Paris restaurants here.
Where I'm Going
1. Following last week's fire, the crypt below Notre Dame is planning an exhibit devoted to the history of the cathedral.
2. I'm a huge fan of rooftop bars, and this brand-new one at the Hotel Brach, surrounded by beautiful fresh herbs, has definitely caught my attention.
3. Perhaps you noticed I ate more than my fair share of mochi in Japan, so imagine my surprise to find that La Maison du Mochi has just opened in Paris!
What I'm Writing
1. Wine and cheese are a classic pairing, but beer and cheese is even better. I talked with experts to find out why for Curiosity Mag.
2. I've long been a fan of organ meats and offal, but Americans tend to shy away from these cuts. I explored why for Organic Authority.
3. Experts say that looking at your phone or computer screen can perturb your sleep. I experimented with staying away from screens for two hours before bed and wrote about the results for Organic Authority.
What I'm Reading
1. This New York Times essay about love and bodily autonomy (and no, it's not what you're thinking).
2. This essay in the Atlantic about the joys of a print newspaper.
3. This New York Times piece about mortality and the importance of a good therapist.
A bientôt !
