Emily in France ๐ซ๐ท Is Loving Los Angeles
I love California.
When I was 12 years old, my family moved to San Francisco for a year. Within a few months, most of my family had decided that New York was our real home, and sure enough, soon, we were headed back east. Butย I didn't want to leave. I loved it. I loved my friends; I loved the weather. I loved the rhythm of a slightly smaller city. If we had stayed, I firmly believe that my life would look very different.
But we did move back to New York. Soon after, I left for France, then boarding school, then Toronto... and my lifelong adventure with moving continued.
My sister, however, moved back.
In the three years that my sister has been living and working in Los Angeles, I've been to visit three different times, and each time is more fun than the next. We walk. We talk. We share stories. We talk about our creative pursuits. We work side-by-side. This time, I even got the chance to watch her film scenes for an upcoming project. Seeing her direct, produce, and act all at once โ to perfection โ left me filled with awe and pride.
Of course, other times, we sit on the grass and just do the New York Times crossword puzzle.
It's pretty much heaven.
Where I'm Eating
One of my favorite places to eat in L.A. is Butcher's Daughter, known for its plant-based cuisine.
