Emily in France 🇫🇷 On the Road Again!
I'm leaving... again.
After barely a month in Paris, I'm nearly on the road again. Travel has been an almost constant state for me in the past year, and while it baffles many of my friends, who aren't at all shy about sharing their worry about what looks, on the outside, like instability, I have to be honest: I love it. Yes, I've reduced my clothing to a uniform that I can carry around with me at pretty much all times. No, I have no idea which box most of my books live in. But every day feels like an adventure. It's hard to imagine anything better.
And yet...
There are a few things I barely get the time to do anymore, by virtue of the way I've organized my life. Things like picking up a book at random from my bookshelf, or spending a night at home watching TV in my pajamas. It barely seems like something worth complaining about... but it is something worth taking the time to do, sometimes.
So last night, just days before my departure for London and Amsterdam, for Spain and Portugal, I made a date with myself. I said no to dinners and drinks out and instead made a massive salad exactly the way I like it, with arugula and spinach and avocado and chili and tahini. I watched Tess Koman eat her way through amusement parks. I did a face mask. I folded my laundry.
And today?
I feel fully prepared for another month of adventures.

Where I'm Eating
Yet another pop-up this week, this time from Robert's Peter Orr. Spicy Thai food was on the menu, and I'm here for it. As always, you can find my ever-evolving list of my favorite Parisian restaurants here.
Â
Where I'm Going
1. To sample the tasting menu at Datsha, a new Marais restaurant from Top Chef's Alexia Duchêne.
2. To Coven, to chat about Pet.
3. To London!
What I'm Writing
1. This list of the best places to eat snails in Paris for Devour.
2. This exploration of what happens if you eat moldy fruit for Eat This, Not That.
3. From the archives: Paris' biggest agricultural expo is on, and I delved into the best approach to visiting it for Paste Magazine.
A bientôt !
