Emily in France 🇫🇷 Is Enjoying the Blue Skies... From Indoors
I'm grateful for pastry.
During confinement, it's the little things that make me happy, like opening a new bag of coffee or getting my (no-contact) bread and cinnamon roll delivery from Circus Bakery. But today, today I got to have a video call with some of my favorite writers in three countries (and four time zones). And friends, it warmed the cockles of my heart.
In addition to these little pleasures, I'm also enjoying the stuff below.
1. One of those aforementioned writers is reading the best thing she read the night before while looking at the best thing she'll see that day. It's the best thing I saw yesterday.
2. This article about Daria, written by someone – like me – who came to the show late and found it reflected a version of themselves that was at once exactly like Daria and would have hated being compared to Daria.
3. FNAC has put 500 books online for free – so if you were planning to start reading in French any time soon, that time is now.
4. A survivor of both the Spanish flu and WWII has now beat COVID-19.
5. And speaking of WWII, a neighborhood of Paris is trapped in the Occupation after confinement shut down a film set.
Stay safe, stay INSIDE, and à bientôt !
