Emily in France 🇫🇷 Is Hard at Work
I am still working from home.
I'm feeling pretty lucky that, unlike many, my work has not slowed. In fact, if anything, I'm busier than ever. Working from home is par for the course for me, but I'm very interested to know how all of you are doing with the novelty of it. Are you raiding the fridge? "Working" in front of Netflix? Staying in the same PJs all day? Inquiring minds want to know!
1. Speaking of working, some 730,000 French people are out of work due to COVID-19 shutting down their offices. Simultaneously, French farmers are scrambling to find people to work the harvest, as those who usually venture from abroad to do this seasonal labor can't cross borders into France. The government has agreed to allow out-of-work French people to take to the fields, harvesting food for the people and collecting unemployment at the same time. If that isn't the Frenchest thing you've ever heard... well, I don't know what to tell you.
2. A crew of goats has taken over a small Welsh town. (And if that isn't the Welshest thing you've ever heard...)
3. In other weird-small-British-town news, a mystery man bought fish and chips for his entire village.
4. Anyone who knows me has probably already guessed that this viral Les Misérables adaptation for confinement has me positively tickled. (Thank you to the many people who sent it to me. I love that this is my brand.)
5. If you're looking to learn something new during confinement, Masterclass is offering a buy-one-share-one membership.
Stay safe, stay INSIDE, and à bientôt !
