Emily in France 🇫🇷 May the 4th Be With You
May 4.
When I was growing up, I was both a Star Wars fan and a Catholic schoolgirl. Which means that on this day, every year, when folks said "May the fourth be with you," I was filled with a phenomenal amount of internal conflict over whether to say, "And also with you," or "Always."
Here are today's fun things from the Internet!
1. Ever wondered why some cheeses melt better than others? I did – so I set out to discover why for AllRecipes (and to assemble a list of the world's best melting cheeses).
2. I spend a lot of time on the Internet and always kind of forget that Internet culture doesn't always translate to the real world. And I'm not alone, as this Twitter thread shows.
3. In honor of the 30-year-anniversary of the publication of Good Omens, Neil Gaiman penned a short film voiced by David Tennant and Michael Sheen and it is delightful.
4. Frenglish is a very unique language that I'm guilty of using more often than I should (apéroing as a gerund; deconfinement – all the time, these days; and agreeable are all pretty frequent). I loved this exploration of these and other borrowed words with which expats are guilty of peppering their speech.
5. Every Sunday this month, you can take a virtual visit of some of the spookiest places in Scotland.
Stay safe, stay INSIDE, and à bientôt !
