Emily in France 🇫🇷 Say Cheese!
I really like cheese.
When people ask me why I moved to France, and I say, "For the cheese," I'm only kind of joking.
I've written on the subject at length, whether exploring the endangerment of true Normandy Camembert or detailing the questionable tradition of dipping Maroilles in coffee or profiling the unique Auvergne cheese that is aged in volcanic cellars.Â
And now, friends, I am discussing my cheese love via a brand-new podcast.
In cooperation with Caroline Conner of Wine Dine Caroline, I will be launching Chez Toi on Paris Underground Radio in just a matter of weeks. The podcast will see us pairing your favorite home-cooked dishes with the ideal wine and most complementary cheese and is coming to a platform near you in September... And in the meantime, I need your help!
If we're to pair cheese and wine with recipes, we need recipes, and I'd love some of them to come from you! Record yourself sharing the story behind your favorite home-cooked meal, and send me the recipe in text format. (And a photo if you've got one!) Caroline and I will share your clip in the podcast and provide the ideal pairing options to make your home-cooked meal a little more French!
(The recipe definitely doesn't have to be French.)
For more info, feel free to shoot me an email. I can't wait to hear your recipes and share them with our listeners!
What I'm Eating
Rose Bakery was one of the first to popularize English-style baked goods in Paris, and their rose-citrus cake is still outta sight. Discover these treats and more on the blog. (And for more of my foodie finds, follow me on Instagram @emily_in_france.)

What I'm Writing
1. Can luxury and sustainability coexist? These Napa wineries prove they can – and must. For Organic Authority.
 2. Rich in hundreds of years of tradition, Alexandria, VA just might be the craft beer destination of your dreams. For the Inside Hook.
3. Are you overmixing? Undermixing? Frosting wrong? These are the 19 cake mistakes most people don't even realize they're making. For Mashed.
What I'm Reading
1. I shouldn’t have waited so long to read Mrs. Dalloway. This book plays with the very structure of the brain’s expectations of storytelling, and I cannot believe I’d left it so long. (Neither can my very dear friend who has been telling me to read it for literal years. Thank you for not giving up on me, Diane!) My thoughts on the blog.
2. I was already in awe of Mrs. Dalloway and then I read this essay about it in the New York Times and I was blown away again.
3. This story, meanwhile, on how much better computers are getting at not just writing, but emulating the style of individual writers, is a little bit horrifying. In the New Yorker.
A bientôt !
