Come Write with Me!
Come write with me!
This may come as a surprise to some subscribers to this newsletter, but in addition to writing a lot about food (and specifically a whole lot about cheese…) I spend much of my time writing fiction. My passion for journalism notwithstanding, fiction was, after all, the spark that set my writing soul ablaze. And if the same is true for you, well... have I got some good news for you.
This June, my dear friend Anna Polonyi and I are launching our very first edition of the Nantes Writers' Workshop!
Anna and I are no strangers to writing workshops. In fact, we met in one here in Paris back in 2014. She has since gone on to earn her M.F.A. in fiction from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop (and to finish an absolutely beautiful novel encompassing contemporary and historical elements that I'm sure I'll have ample time to brag about on her behalf at a later date) and now lives in the historic port city of Nantes. It is here, in the childhood home of Jules Verne, that we are offering writers the opportunity to come together to forge a community of like-minded creatives.
Over the course of the week-long program, participants will split their time between a feedback-focused writing workshop with Anna and observatory and generative writing exercises with yours truly, inspired in part by the gorgeous city of Nantes. Evenings will give us time to chat about essential elements of writing, from revision to publishing to craft, in a more casual setting. We'll cap off our week with a reading and a goodbye dinner.
All this for just 450 euro (not including lodging and transport).
Our group will be capped at just 10 participants, and our inaugural session is taking place the last week of June. Whether you're a beginner looking for some direction or an experienced writer seeking community and guidance, the we're ready to welcome you. Apply now to secure your space, and follow us on Instagram for inspiration in the meantime!
