Emily in France ๐ซ๐ท Is Back!

I've always loved to move.
When I was a kid, my parents moved a lot. Not far (except once, the year we lived in California) but frequently, from one apartment to another to another. I usually remember when a distinct memory happened based on what my room looked like at the time.
That desire to move only got stronger, with me. I started exploring new places as soon as I was old enough to set out on my own, from summer camp to a foreign exchange program in France to, in 2007, finally moving here. But for the past few years, that desire to move has been calmed within me: it felt more important to establish a reliable home base than it did to have adventures. And so I've spent the past decade cultivating just that, here in Paris.ย
Of course, the benefit of finally having a reliable home base is that I can leave it... it's always here when I get back. The travel bug has bit me once more, and I've started flying off towards new horizons. This past year has involved a lot of travel for me; the year coming up will likely involve even more. But I've returned to Paris after several... weeks? Months? It's hard to remember... And I'm so thrilled to see that even in my absence, Paris has retained that familiarity and ease it slowly but surely has acquired in the past few years; that I can slip back into my own life easily. Returning to Paris, now, truly feels like coming home.
